I have experience some pretty painful things in my life. I am sure some of you can relate. But God has put it on my heart through His word and devotion that it is equally important to sing a song of praise after the trials and when we get to the other side of our pain.
I am not suggesting that everyone should get or be on the other side of any pain by now. It can still feel like we are suffering every day. Know that God is with you were you are right now. The Holy Spirit will comfort you in this moment in your meditation, community and pray with Him.
Singing a song of praise can begin to put our heart in a moment of Gods mercy. Like the Israelites in Exodus 15 we can sing a song of deliverance. In verse 2 – A song of strength and victory. I Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Being thankful is not the secret to freedom from burdens. Heck the next breath the Israelites had after praising God was the trial of the terrible water they had to drink. (vrs 22-27) The trial to faithfully trust Gods goodness and preserve. As we read on, we see the selfish nature of man take hold again in the hearts of the Israelites.
In Chapter 16 God continues to speak the law of God with His people. We see that sabbath day has been established.
Wow so many rules to follow right? As we read on even some of the Israelites, in verse 27-30 choose to sin against God. It’s like us; we have to test Gods truth. We make a bad decision, don’t act as God instructs and we end up hungry. (verse 27)
In chapter 17 after all God has blessed the Israelites they are faced with yet another trial. Their lack of faith in the Lord’s covenant causes them to turn against Moses. They find someone to blame. Sound familiar?
Hardships happen around us; within our family or friends’ group and it becomes so easy to point a finger. We want so desperately to be comfortable and freed from the agony.
Like Moses we can go to God and seek His mericies for those hurting around us. God will preform miricles in their lives and hurting hearts will be healed. The sting of water we thrist for will be given. (vrs 6)
Just when the Israelites are saved from their thirst a threat fast approach’s and in verse 8-14 we read how the Israelite defeated the Amalekites. What God wants us to hear is the importance of a strong community of believers around us. We are not to be alone in our struggles. (vrs 12) We require other believers to hold us up during our trials. We need to find people who believe Yahweh-Nissi. (vrs 15)
As chapter 18-22 unfold God begins to set the laws for His followers. Chapter 18 established the first courts and jury for bigger offences. Those chosen leaders will resolve disputes and ensure justice. In chapter 19 and through the beginning of chapter 23 God provides the laws, the 10 commandments and specific instructions on how to carry these things out.
We can look at all these rules and we know we fall short. I have time and time again. In Romans 3:23 – “For all are sinners and fall short of the glory of God”. Gods glory has allowed me to experience great forgiveness in my repentance and truly changing my actions. Seeking God through my trails has developed the character of God within me. Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.
Our sin cannot remove Gods character in us. We have free will to access Gods character and develop it through study in His word, prayer and leaning into His plan in our trials and victories.
God thank you for helping us to preserver through our trials, the victory is yours. Thank you for your blessing in our life today and always. Amen
