We wait, wondering through the wilderness day after day. feeling lost and maybe even abandoned.
Sometimes we question our purpose. What is God doing? Why has He left us out. Has He singled me out of what the rest are doing or where they are going? Today I turn our hearts to the great purpose God has already shown or has instore for us.
As I began to read Numbers right away in Chapter 1 verse 47 God singled out a tribe, the Levites. They were not chosen to be leaders (vrs 16). God had a greater purpose for the Levites. They were to be in charge of the Tabernacle (verse 50-53). The Levites were chosen to protect the Israelites with the responsibilities of the Tabernacle. With the Tabernacle they would be protected by God on their journey to the promise land. God through Moses continued to provide instructions for the people’s purpose throughout Numbers. Each clan among the Israelites had a leader. In chapter 3 Aaron and his descendants were appointed to the priesthood.
We will read in the New Testament and know today that we no longer have to go through the priest for God to hear our prayers. Through Jesus sacrifice on the cross we no longer are required to go to man. John 14:6 No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.
I close today with one of my prayers I speak when I struggle to express what is in my heart for someone. It can be hard to find just one thing to pray for or maybe your not sure exactly why God has put this person on your heart. Thats ok, don’t ignore Gods leading.
Pray this with me today; Numbers 6:24-26
May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you favor and give you peace. Amen.
