Genesis 1:31a God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.
My family are very fortunate to have a small cabin in the woods. One of our favorite parts of going “up north” is the scenic drive to our little get away. The mighty pines that tower above us speckled with white birch trees. The change of the seasons is breath taking. The colored rad side vibrantly displays reds, yellows and orange.
This spring and summer has brought much needed rain. The woods are lush and full of wildflowers and animals. It is like the earth is taking in the refreshing rain and signing in praises to God.
I enjoy the refreshing sense of peace that overcomes me as we wind our way on the road and down the 379 yard driveway to our little place in the woods.
It can be hard some days to find that same peace with all that is happening around us. The tension and chaos in our neighborhoods and our world is unsettling. We can feel like God is so far away, like we cant feel, hear, or see Him.
The old testament is filled with battels and sin that pulled people away from God. The good news is God never abandon HIs people. He continued to speak through His called ones, through men like Daniel and Ezekiel.
The news is even better for those of us who live after Jesus’ birth. Eventually, God literally indwells His people. Because His Spirit lives in us, we are now temples. 1 Corinthians 6:19 – Don’t you realize that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You dont belong to this world!
The worlds turmoil is unsettling. The destruction around us can feel much to close some days. If we can’t seems to find that place deep in the woods to find peace; remember the peace resides in us. We can stop anywhere and seek the Holy Spirit.
Philippians 4:7 – Then you will experience Gods peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
