I saw the long Suspended bridge ahead of me, the valley below seemed to go on forever. As I looked across to the other side there stood my biggest obstacle.
Fear was taunting me like I was a chicken. Well, maybe I am a chicken. I have a terrible fear of heights.
Each of us experience fear. Fear of things that crawl on the ground, fear of the dark and I’ve even heard some fears that seem strange to me.
We all have a little fear built-in us. This is how we learn not to do certain things. Fear of getting burned if we touch something hot.
When Mary became pregnant, all kinds of fear was experienced by her and Joseph. What would people say about her being pregnant before marriage, [Matthew 1:19) Joseph must have experienced some fear after his dream when the angel of the Lord appeared to him.
I think about the fear of the unknown the both of them must of felt knowing their sons purpose. (Matthew 1:20b)And as you are to give him The name Jesus because he will save his people.
Joseph took Mary out of Nazareth to Bethlehem for fear of pursecution. Let’s not forget when Gabriel the Lord’s angel came to Mary the favored one. In all the thoughts and fears that circled around in Joseph and Mary’s head we read in Luke, 1:38 Mary’s response to the angel. I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled.
Each day as believers, we face fear of persecution, we face our internal fears that can get in the way of what God wants us to do.
how are we to pray for those who persecute us? Pray for the weary and the lost?
In the season of Jesus birth, can we be like Mary? Can we respond as Mary did?
Lord, We are your servant. May your words to me be fulfilled.
Bless you and God be with you
